Description

Edit

Morquintian is a small locality in the municipality of Muxía or the adjacent Cee area, in the province of A Coruña, Galicia. It lies on the coastal path between Muxía and Fisterra, in the exposed clifftop and headland terrain of the Costa da Morte, one of the most dramatically positioned stretches of coast in Galicia.

The Costa da Morte, meaning Coast of Death, takes its name from the many shipwrecks that have occurred on its rock-strewn shores over the centuries, driven by the fierce Atlantic storms that assault this exposed coastline. The landscape is wild, windswept, and dominated by granite outcrops, gorse and heather scrub, and the constant presence of the ocean.
