Description
Lauzerte is a commune in the Tarn-et-Garonne department, situated on a prominent hilltop ridge above the Quercy Blanc. The village is designated one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France and retains its medieval character as a twelfth-century bastide with a regular street grid, a central market square, and white limestone houses.
The surrounding landscape is the Quercy Blanc, where sunflowers, maize, and vines define the agricultural patchwork. For pilgrims, Lauzerte is one of the most celebrated bastide stops on the Via Podiensis and the first significant village in the Tarn-et-Garonne.
