Description

Edit

Gallegos is a small locality in the municipality of Grado, in Asturias, on the Camino Primitivo route between Oviedo and Grado. The name means Galicians, indicating the settlement was founded by or associated with immigrants from Galicia who settled in this part of Asturias during the medieval period. Such Galician settler communities are documented across northern Spain.

The surrounding terrain is the enclosed green hill landscape of central Asturias, with pasture, mixed woodland, and stone farmhouses. The locality falls on the descending route toward Grado and the Nalón river crossing.
