Freituxe

Freituxe is a small locality in the province of Lugo, Galicia, on the San Xil route variant of the Camino Frances between Triacastela and Sarria. The hamlet has a dispersed farmstead character in the enclosed green mountain terrain of the Lugo interior.

The surrounding landscape has the typical Galician mountain quality: oak and chestnut woodland on the slopes, green pasture in the sheltered hollows, and stone farmhouses with hórreo granaries scattered across the hillside. The humid Atlantic character of the terrain is pronounced here.

For pilgrims on the southern route, Freituxe is a quiet passage point in the less-frequented mountain corridor between Triacastela and Sarria.
