Description
Faycelles is a commune in the Lot department, situated on the limestone causses plateau above the Cele and Lot valleys, on the Via Podiensis route between Figeac and Cajarc. The village occupies the open plateau terrain of the Quercy causses, a landscape of flat-lying limestone, scrub oak, and the characteristic white stone of the region.
The ascent from the Cele valley to the causses plateau above Faycelles is one of the significant climbs on the Lot section. The transition from the enclosed wooded valley to the open limestone plateau represents a clear change of landscape character, with the route on the causse more exposed but offering wider views and typical causses flora of aromatic scrub and limestone grassland.
