Description

Edit

Campiello is a small locality in the municipality of Allande, in Asturias, on the Camino Primitivo route on the elevated mountain terrain between Tineo and Pola de Allande. The name derives from campillo, meaning a small flat field or plain, indicating a slight levelling of the terrain in the otherwise rugged mountain landscape.

The setting is the exposed upland of the western Asturian sierra, where gorse, heather, and mountain scrub cover the open hillsides and wider views extend in all directions. The route through Campiello is part of the most demanding and scenically spectacular section of the entire Camino Primitivo, crossing the high western Asturian mountains between the valley towns.
