Description

Edit

Cabeza de Boi is a small locality in the municipality of Meis, Pontevedra, Galicia, on the Camino Espiritual route descending from the Armenteira monastery toward the Ría de Arousa. The name translates as ox head in Galician-Spanish, a toponym that may record a rock formation, a former estate boundary marker, or a distinctive landscape feature resembling an ox head.

The surrounding terrain is the descent from the Meis highland through wooded slopes toward the coastal estuary zone. The route from the monastery through this area offers views opening westward toward the Arousa ría and the flat water that pilgrims on the Espiritual variant will eventually cross by boat.
