A Igrexa

A Igrexa is a small locality in the province of Pontevedra, Galicia, on the Camino Espiritual route. The name is simply the Galician word for church, igrexa, one of the most basic settlement toponyms in Galicia, where a parish church was the defining feature of a dispersed rural community.

The locality has a quiet agricultural character in the green enclosed valley landscape typical of the Pontevedra coast hinterland, with traditional stone farmhouses and hórreo granaries. For pilgrims on the Camino Espiritual, A Igrexa is a passage point on the approach to the Arousa estuary zone and the boat crossing ahead.
