Vilela

Vilela is a small locality in the municipality of Ribadeo, in the province of Lugo, Galicia, situated in the forested hill terrain south of Ribadeo on the inland route toward Mondoñedo. The settlement has a quiet rural character with stone farmhouses and the enclosed green valley landscape of the Galician interior.

The route from Ribadeo inland toward Mondoñedo climbs from the estuary coast through forested hills and agricultural valleys, and Vilela falls in this transition zone where the coastal character of Ribadeo gives way to the enclosed forest and meadow terrain of the Galician interior. The route through Vilela is part of the long inland stage heading southwest toward the historic city of Mondoñedo.
