Vilardongo

Vilardongo is a small locality in the municipality of A Fonsagrada, in the province of Lugo, Galicia, on the Camino Primitivo route heading west from the Fonsagrada basin. The name combines vilar, the Galician variant of villa, with a suffix that may indicate a specific family name or terrain feature.

The settlement has a quiet farmstead character in the enclosed green valley landscape of the Lugo mountain interior, with traditional Galician stone houses and hórreo granaries in the surrounding farmland. The route through Vilardongo continues the westward traverse of the Lugo interior toward the Fonsagrada-Castroverde corridor and eventually Lugo city.
