Description
Seoane is a small locality in the province of Lugo, Galicia, on the Camino Primitivo or adjacent route south of Lugo city. The name is the Galician form of San Xoán, meaning Saint John, indicating a parish church dedication to Saint John the Baptist, one of the most common saints’ dedications in Galicia.
The setting is the enclosed green valley landscape of the Lugo interior, with the typical combination of dairy pasture, oak and eucalyptus woodland, and traditional Galician stone farmhouses. Seoane is one of many small Galician parishes sharing this saint’s name and the pastoral character of the Lugo countryside.
