Gontan

Gontán is a small locality in the province of Lugo, Galicia, situated on the inland Camino del Norte route between Mondoñedo and Villalba. The settlement occupies the green valley terrain of the Lugo interior, where the enclosed pastoral character of the Atlantic Galician hills maintains a lush quality through all seasons.

The surrounding landscape combines dairy cattle pasture on the valley floor with eucalyptus and oak woodland on the steeper slopes, the typical mosaic of the Lugo interior that the Camino del Norte inland variant crosses on the long stage between the two historic centres of Mondoñedo and Villalba.
