Fillobal

Fillobal is a small locality in the municipality of Triacastela, Lugo, Galicia, on the Camino Frances on the descent toward Triacastela. The hamlet has traditional stone farmhouses in the oak and chestnut woodland that characterises the lower Galician mountain slopes.

The surrounding terrain is the enclosed green valley country typical of the Lugo interior: humid, forested, and lush, with the open mountain moorland above replaced by the dense woodland and pasture of the valley sides. The descent from the high ridge through hamlets like Fillobal is one of the more gradual and pleasant transitions of the Galician mountain stages.

For pilgrims, Fillobal is a passage point on the Triacastela approach, the increasing enclosure and greenness of the valley a contrast with the exposed terrain above.
