El Rellayo

El Rellayo is a small locality above the fishing port of Cudillero, in the municipality of Cudillero, in Asturias. The name may refer to a local topographic feature. The hamlet sits on the elevated terrain above the bay where Cudillero’s distinctive coloured fishing village cascades down a steep ravine to the harbour.

The approach to Cudillero from this direction gives pilgrims one of the most anticipated views on the Asturian Camino del Norte: the first glimpse of the painted house facades stacked tightly in the ravine below the clifftop, an urban formation that has become one of the most photographed landscapes in northern Spain.
