Description
Bádarán is a municipality in La Rioja, situated in the Cárdenas valley on the Camino Frances between Nájera and Santo Domingo de la Calzada. The village is a traditional wine-producing community with an eighteenth-century Baroque church tower and the typical stone architecture of the Rioja interior.
The surrounding landscape is the vine-covered hillsides and flat valley bottom of the Cárdenas area, where the Rioja media appellation produces characteristic wines from garnacha and tempranillo grapes on the chalky clay soils. The village has a gentle agricultural calm despite being on the Camino route.
For pilgrims, Bádarán provides basic services and a pleasant vine-country atmosphere on the approach to Santo Domingo de la Calzada.
