Description
Assilhó is a small locality in the municipality of Águeda, in the Aveiro district of central Portugal. It occupies terrain in the more densely forested interior zone of the district, where eucalyptus and pine plantations dominate the hillsides and small agricultural clearings interrupt the woodland cover.
The settlement has a dispersed layout with stone residential buildings and small agricultural plots, typical of the minor localities in this part of the Aveiro district that developed around subsistence farming and woodland resources. No significant historic monument or infrastructure distinguishes it from the several similar localities along this corridor.
Assilhó sits on or near the Camino Português route between Águeda and Albergaria-a-Velha, a segment notable for its sustained passage through woodland and relatively infrequent services.
