Descripción
Villava is a municipality in Navarra immediately adjoining Pamplona, situated on the Arga river. The town is the birthplace of Miguel Induráin, the five-time Tour de France champion, and a monument to him stands in the town. The municipality has been effectively absorbed into the Pamplona metropolitan area, though it retains its own administrative identity.
For pilgrims on the Camino Frances, Villava is traversed quickly as part of the continuous urban approach to Pamplona. The Arga river is still present, and the riverside path provides a brief connection to the natural corridor before the full urban environment of the capital.
The most famous aspect of Villava for contemporary visitors is the Induráin connection, with a small museum dedicated to the cyclist in the town.
