Descripción
Aguada de Baixo is a parish in the municipality of Águeda, in the Aveiro district of central Portugal. It forms a pair with the neighboring Aguada de Cima (‘upper Aguada’), the two settlements occupying different levels of the same shallow valley terrain on the approach to Águeda town. The name refers to the lower of the two, positioned closer to the valley floor.
The parish has a traditional layout around its church, with stone houses and agricultural outbuildings spread across the surrounding fields. The terrain here shows more relief than the flat Bairrada plain to the south, as the landscape begins to respond to the Águeda river basin that defines much of this part of the Aveiro district.
The Camino Português passes through the parish, making it a recognized waypoint on the approach to Águeda. Its agricultural setting and valley position give it a sheltered character compared to the more exposed plain villages further south.
