Rioseco

Rioseco is a small locality in Cantabria, its name meaning dry river, indicating a seasonal watercourse that runs intermittently through the terrain. The settlement occupies inland terrain in the hinterland of the Cantabrian coast, in the zone between the Asón estuary and the town of Laredo.

The surrounding landscape has the enclosed green quality of the Cantabrian interior, with pasture and woodland on the valley slopes. The locality is modest and without significant infrastructure, serving as a passage point on the inland variants of the Camino del Norte.
